A Practice Built
on Connection

BirdWellness began with a simple belief: therapy should be a place where you feel heard, understood, and comfortable being yourself.

Who We Are

Small Practice.
Personal Approach.

Founded in 2024 by therapists Brian Birdwell and Megan Morell, BirdWellness is a small, clinician-owned practice providing online therapy throughout Michigan. We remain actively involved in client care, bringing the same personal attention to the practice that we bring to therapy.

Our clinicians bring diverse specialties and decades of combined experience, but we share a common philosophy: therapy should feel human, collaborative, and tailored to the person in front of us. We value getting to know you beyond a diagnosis and creating care that reflects your needs, values, and goals.

Our story

How It All Began.

The idea for BirdWellness started in 2023, while Brian was recovering from cochlear implant surgery. With an unexpected stretch of quiet time, he began thinking more seriously about what therapy could look like if it felt less rushed, less impersonal, and more centered on genuine connection.

The name began as a playful nod to Brian’s last name, but it quickly became something more. For us, birds represent freedom, possibility, and the courage to move forward. The nest reflects something equally important: a place to feel grounded, supported, and safe enough to grow. Together, those ideas became the heart of BirdWellness.

What started at a dining room table—writing policies, building forms, and shaping the practice one piece at a time—opened in January 2024. Since then, BirdWellness has grown into a team of therapists with different strengths and a shared commitment to thoughtful, individualized care. That commitment continues to guide how we work today.

Our Approach

What Makes BirdWellness Different

Thoughtful care grounded in evidence, real relationships, and the realities of everyday life.

Personal, Human Care

We take time to know the person behind the symptoms—not just the diagnosis.

Clinician-Owned & Led

Our therapists shape the practice and remain directly involved in the care we provide.

Evidence-Based, Individually Tailored

We use research-supported approaches while adapting treatment to your needs, goals, and preferences.

Skills for Real Life

Therapy should matter beyond the session. We focus on insight and practical tools you can carry into everyday life.

Mission & Values

Our Mission & Vision.

Our Mission

To provide thoughtful, evidence-based therapy where people feel seen, respected, and able to be themselves. We honor each person’s identity, experiences, choices, and goals while creating care that feels collaborative, personal, and genuinely human.

Our Vision

To make personalized, specialized therapy more accessible across Michigan without losing the connection and responsiveness of a small practice. As BirdWellness grows, we want to remain a place clients trust, clinicians feel proud to be part of, and decisions are guided by the people they affect.

Connection

Healing begins with feeling genuinely seen, heard, and understood.

Care

We meet people where they are with warmth, curiosity, and respect.

Growth

Meaningful change happens through steady, sustainable steps forward.

HOW WE WORK TOGETHER

Care That Meets You Where You Are

Therapy starts with a conversation about what brings you here, what you’d like to change, and what has—or hasn’t—helped before. Together, we’ll identify your priorities and choose an approach that fits your needs.

Our therapists draw on specialized training and evidence-based methods while making room for your questions, preferences, and feedback. Along the way, we’ll explore patterns, build practical skills, and regularly check in on how therapy is working for you. As your needs evolve, your care can evolve with them.

GETTING STARTED

How Online Therapy Works

Meet with your therapist through secure video from a private, comfortable space anywhere in Michigan. Getting started is simple.

What do I need for online therapy?

A reliable internet connection, a device with a camera and microphone, and a private place to talk. We’ll send everything you need to join before your first session.

What if I’m new to therapy?

You don’t need to know what to say or have everything figured out. Your therapist will help guide the conversation, get to know you, and work with you to identify what feels most important.

How do I choose a therapist?

Explore our therapist profiles to learn about each clinician’s specialties and approach. If you’re unsure where to start, request a free 15-minute consultation and we’ll help you identify a potential fit.

Can I use insurance for online therapy?

Yes. Insurance participation varies by therapist and plan. We’ll help you understand your coverage and expected costs before your first appointment, and self-pay options are also available.
