About
Megan
Megan grew up in the small rural community of Ubly, Michigan, as the youngest of four children—by quite a few years. Her upbringing shaped the grounded, practical way she connects with people today and gave her an early appreciation for family, resilience, and the different ways people learn to cope with difficult experiences.
Grief and loss have also been a meaningful part of Megan’s own story. She experienced the death of her mother at a very young age, followed several years later by the loss of her first stepmother. Those experiences gave her a deeply personal understanding of how grief and trauma can shape a person across different stages of life. They also contribute to the patience and compassion she brings to clients who are navigating loss, change, or experiences that can be difficult to put into words.
Megan earned her Bachelor of Social Work from Saginaw Valley State University and her Master of Clinical Social Work from Michigan State University. Her career has included extensive work with children, adolescents, adults, and families, with particular interests in trauma, grief, emotional and behavioral concerns, parenting, and family relationships.
Outside of therapy, Megan has shared life with Brian since 2019 and is a proud bonus mom to two school-aged children. Their household also includes Rowan and Lily, their two cats, Jasmine the chiweenie, and Rose the pit bull. Megan loves being outdoors, arts and crafts, and traveling whenever she gets the chance—especially if the destination involves warm weather, tropical scenery, or a cruise ship.
“The things we go through become part of our story, but they don’t have to decide what the next chapter looks like.”

My Approach
I start by getting to know the person in front of me—not just the problem that brought them to therapy. With children and teens, that means creating a space where they can feel comfortable, understood, and able to express themselves in ways that fit their age and personality. With adults and families, I focus on understanding the experiences, relationships, and patterns that may be contributing to what feels difficult right now. My work draws from trauma-focused and evidence-based approaches, including TF-CBT, EMDR, parenting strategies, mindfulness, and practical coping skills. Whether we are working through trauma, grief, family stress, or everyday emotional challenges, my goal is to help you feel more confident understanding what is happening and what you can do next.
✦ Start With Connection
Feeling comfortable and understood comes first. I take time to learn who you are before deciding where the work should go.
✦ Make Room for the Whole Story
Past experiences, relationships, family dynamics, and loss can all shape what is happening today. We’ll make space for the pieces that matter.
✦ Build Skills That Fit Real Life
Therapy should be useful outside of session. We’ll practice strategies you can actually carry into home, school, relationships, and everyday stress.
✦ Work Together
Whether I’m working with an adult, child, teen, or family, therapy is collaborative. Your perspective, goals, and feedback help guide the process.
